The Party of Regions of Moldova pleads for annulling the Moldova – EU Association Agreement that, according to the party, disadvantages the Moldovan producers and led to the invasion of the Moldovan market with genetically modified products and products of a poor quality that come from European countries.

In a news conference at IPN, the party’s president Alexandr Kalinin said the Moldovan products now do not meet the requirements imposed by the EU. The EU sets the rules and export quotas and the Republic of Moldova does not have a say. The producers practically cannot sell their harvest. On the other hand, they cannot export their products to the EU as they do not meet the required standards. On the other hand, they cannot export to Russia owing to the monopole instituted on this segment.

According to him, the Republic of Moldova should start everything from the beginning. First of all, the corrupt schemes that limit the producers’ direct access to the Russian market should be eliminated. When the producers start to obtain revenues from the export to the Russian Federation, these could invest in post-harvest installations so as to ensure broad access to the European Union.

Alexandr Kalinin said time has come for the Republic of Moldova to restore the previous respect on the international market so that the state does not beg from Russia or the European Union member states.

According to Alexandr Kalinin, corrupt schemes are applied on the export of Moldovan goods to Russia and these are orchestrated by President Igor Dodon. According to Kalinin, the producers suffer losses as a result of these schemes, while a series of intermediaries enjoy benefits that reach Igor Dodon as well.

On February 24, things can be changed cardinally if the people vote for the Party of Regions of Moldova. The party promises it will not allow Igor Dodon to monopolize the market and the export of Moldovan agricultural products to Russia. They will create conditions for each producer to be able to export their goods to Russia directly. Therefore, the voters need to make a correct choice.
