The Party of Changes (Partidul Schimbării) is calling on political forces to unite against the likelihood of MP Marina Tauber of the Shor Party winning the snap mayoral runoff in Bălți.
Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Party of Changes leader Ștefan Gligor said Tauber’s landslide win (48%) in the first round this past Sunday was proof that “anticorruption policies are not working” and that “voters still massively fall prey to electoral corruption and manipulation”. He also regretted the poor turnout and the “totally disastrous” campaign strategy of the ruling party’s candidate.
“Sadly, so far I haven’t seen any reaction from the governing party to this incredible situation. It is a moment of triumph for corrupt people”, declared Gligor.
In this situation, the Party of Changes urges political forces to support the runner-up, the independent Nikolai Grigorishin, “whether you like him or not”. “This is not about Grigorishin (…) Any sound society should unite against the Shor Party’s candidate”, said Gligor.
The mayoral runoff in Bălți is slated for December 5.
