Moldova and Malta have established partnerships for supporting the European integration of Moldova. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Natalia Gherman agreed with her Maltese counterpart George W. Vella to intensify bilateral cooperation based on the common European values and aspirations, IPN reports.

The meeting of the two officials took place in Malta. In a communiqué, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration says that the Maltese minister expressed his country’s readiness to support Moldova in its European integration efforts by transferring institutional experience in such areas as tourism, economy, education, and e-Government. The two ministers signed a statement on the European integration and an intergovernmental convention on avoidance of double taxation and prevention of tax evasion with respect to taxes on income and property.

This is the first visit paid by a Moldovan foreign minister to Malta since diplomatic relations were established between the two states in 1996.
