The political parties should more often present financial reports and these should be checked by the Court of Auditors, stated “Promo-LEX” expert Cornelia Călin. According to her, the citizens should know what the money provided by the state to parties is spent on, IPN reports.

“By the report we presented last week, we came with monitoring activities and tried to estimate the costs of the activities staged by parties in the first half of this year and saw what was reported and what was not,” the expert stated in the talk show “Red button” on the public TV channel Moldova1.

She noted that 12 political parties didn’t report how they spent almost 13 million lei. “We tried to engage online sources as the parties boast that they publish absolutely all the activities. This is an instrument for us to see the number of concerts staged and the number of offices owned by parties, the number of engaged voters and of employees, units of transport and kilometers covered,” stated Cornelia Călin.

Democratic MP Sergiu Sîrbu said the population is not very satisfied with the fact that the state gives money to parties at a time when the salaries and pensions are low. The revision of party funding is not popular with the population, but will develop pluripartidism.

Sergiu Litvinenko, a member of the Party “Action and Solidarity”, said their party presents financial reports. Only correct and transparent financing of parties can later ensure efficient governance. “If there is corruption in a party, this corruption will definitely pass to public institutions when the party comes to power,” he stated.
