The representatives of the political parties to the Central Election Commission (CEC) said they will support any decision on the July 29 elections that will be made by the Constitutional Court. At the same time, the representatives of the PLDM, PL, PDM and AMN criticized the electoral process. The members of the CEC and parties’ representatives were heard at Friday’s meeting of the Constitutional Court, Info-Prim Neo reports. CEC president Eugeniu Stirbu presented the report on the Commission’s work. He said that most of the mayors had an irresponsible attitude towards the compilation of the electoral rolls. He expressed his regret at the fact that not all the election runners and media outlets observed the Code of Conduct during the electoral campaign. Sergiu Sarbu, the representative of the PCRM to the CEC, said that the irregularities identified during the electoral campaign and on the election day cannot influence the outcome and asked that the Constitutional Court validate the elections. Stefan Creanga, the PLDM’s representative to the Commission, expressed his dissatisfaction with the imperfection of the electoral legislation, but said that they will accept the Court’s decision. The same position was expressed by the PL’s representative Roman Andries. He said that the PCRM was the most favored contender in the electoral campaign. The representative of the PDM criticized the CEC, saying that it does not have the levers needed to conduct electoral processes. Andrei Volentir added that during the electoral campaign the PDM had to face such challenges as deterioration of the election posters, hindering of meeting with voters, etc. “As we cannot hold elections for ever, the AMN will support the Constitutional Court’s decision,” said Nicolae Raileanu, the representative of the AMN to the CEC When the news story was published (14.20), the meeting of the Constitutional Court was going on.
