An enormous gap between the expectations of society and the performance of the ruling politicians appeared during a year or a year and a half, considers Romanian foreign policy expert Armand Gosu. In an interview for Radio Free Europe, the analyst said that despite Moldova’s efforts and accomplishments in the process of coming closer to the EU, it is evident that an oligarchic regime that tends to compromise the European integration idea was established in Moldova during the last few years, IPN reports.
“There is a blockage in front - an obstacle to the implementation of reforms. The reforms must not be invented. There is no need for a group of thinkers to put unordinary ideas on paper. There are very clear things defined in the Association Agreement, which, regretfully, has become a simple sheet of paper during the past year. The fact that the justice sector reform was suspended is the greatest pain,” he stated.
Asked why an immaculate, at least apparently immaculate, left does not appear, Armand Gosu said it does not appear because the few politicians who changed their orientation immediately became targets for the government and the controlled media.
As to who could gain or lose from a political crisis, Armand Gosu said that if the ratio of forces inside the alliance is modified after the Liberal Democratic Party loses one-two MPs and the Democratic Party becomes the main party of the ruling alliance, which suggests the candidate for premiership, the crisis could be caused to satisfy this last party’s wish to manage the Government. “If we take into account the fact that the first term in office of President Timofti expires on March 22 and a new head of state is to be elected, things worsen even more,” he stated.
According to the analyst, there is a lot of manipulation as if the West, the foreign embassies working in Chisinau could be lied to forever. That epoch when Donbas and Crimea were used as scarecrows is over and Brussels and Washington are already tired of these endless manipulations to which the Moldovan oligarchs resort.
