Functionaries of the Chisinau City Hall suggested compiling the list of persons who will be banned access to the institution. The suggestion was made following last week’s incident, when a number of protesters entered the City Hall by force and broke the glass of the checkpoint, IPN reports.

Gabriela Ciumac, head of the Foreign Relations and Regional Cooperation Division, said the City Hall is not a psychiatric hospital to receive all the ‘mentally ill’. “The incident last Thursday was something abnormal. The protesters picnicked, shouted and bawled. The people got scared and closed their offices,” she said in Monday’s ordinary meeting of City Hall officials. She added that the public servants are not protected from such abusive entrances that are frequent.

Deputy mayor Vlad Cotet, who chaired the meeting, asked verifying the list of persons who protested inside the City Hall and holding accountable those who broke the glass. “Everyone should answer, not only the one who broke it. The police treated the protesters humanely, but it was probably not the case. There are certain limits and I think it was an act of hooliganism and vandalism,” he stated.

The deputy head of the Chisinau Police Division Silviu Musuc said he will provide information about the penalized persons by next Monday.

A group of protesters besieged the City Hall on July 18, dissatisfied with the construction of an apartment building on Alba Iulia St in Buiucani district. The glass of the checkpoint was broken during the protest.
