More than 100 children from the diaspora taking part in the summer camp DOR had an informal meeting with Prime Minister Iurie Leanca. The Premier expressed his satisfaction with the fact that the number of participants rose four times and welcomed the idea of involving children living in Moldova in the camp, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué of the Government.
“I’m convinced that the interaction with mates from Moldova will help you, the children of our citizens from the most distant countries, to better know the motherland of your parents. I lived in the U.S. for three years and in The Hague for two years and had the occasion of remaining there, but I feel best at home. I’m convinced that the realities in Moldova will be different in three-four years. The quality of life will be different,” stated the head of Government.
The children put a lot of questions to the Premier. The simulated a meeting of the Cabinet, where they asked questions at the microphone. Most of the questions concerned the situation of the Moldovans living abroad and the advantages that could make them return home. Iurie Leanca said the executive is stepping up efforts to reduce bureaucracy and to offer the people good schools, kindergartens, hospitals and roads as well as well-paid jobs.
Last week, the Bureau for Diaspora Relations launched the second summer camp DOR, which is intended for children from the diaspora. This year, the camp involves 101 children from 13 countries, including children living in Moldova.
The program “DOR – Diaspora. Origins. Return” is a Government’s initiative implemented under the auspices of Prime Minister Iurie Leanca.
