Students from all over the country who took part in several contests staged by the Embassy of Germany in Chisinau were awarded on May 27. Thus, 35 students received prizes and diplomas for taking part in the literary contest “Our Moldova in 2030”. There were also provided scholarships of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and German Language Diplomas DSD, IPN reports.

The Embassy of Germany in Chisinau offered 42 DAAD scholarships. The twelfth graders of the Chisinau Lyceum “Mihail Kogalniceanu” received German Language Diplomas. These diplomas will enable the graduates to study at a university in Germany without needing to take a German language test.

The awards and diplomas were handed over by Germany’s Ambassador in Chisinau Ulrike Knotz. The official said there is interest in studying the German language in Moldova. However, there is a shortage of textbooks and teachers of German in the country. “We are to find solutions to these problems together with the Ministry of Education,” stated the diplomat.

Ioana Vatamanu-Margineanu, ninth graders at the Lyceum “Mircea Eliade”, is one of the holders of the top prize of the literary contest “Our Moldova in 2030”. She said she worked hard for these results and was awarded a trip to Germany. “It is a nice contest that offers all the students the possibility of gaining experience and discovering Germany, of speaking German and of developing,” she stated.
