Participants in April 7 events urge prosecutor general to resign

A group of young people who took part in the April 7, 2009 protests demand that Prosecutor General Valeriu Zubko resign because he refused to examine the applications asking holding accountable the organizers of those events, Info-Prim Neo reports. “Fourteen young persons who participated in the April 2009 protests filed a statement to the prosecutor general, the Acting President and the OSCE, asking investigating the case, but received no answer so far. I’m concerned about the fact that nobody reacts. We received neither a positive nor a negative answer,” Fiodor Ghelici, the head of the Public Association “Moldova mea”, which supports the young people in their efforts, told a news conference. According to him, the prosecutor general knows who the organizers are, but prefers to keep silent. They can any time start legal cases against them, if they take a wrong step. One of the signatories of the statement, Eugen Mocanu said the participants in the 2009 public disorder are ready to answer for their actions, but want the organizers to be convicted. “We are 50 persons and are prepared to do everything necessary so that the truth about those events comes out. If the prosecutor does not resign within two weeks, we will stage mass protests and block the streets. We want those who manipulated us and gave us drugs and who prepared us for the pogrom to be held accountable,” he stated. He said he formed part of an association that the young people called ‘National Nacist’. Such organizations exist in a number of countries, but are not registered. ‘Nacist’ is different from ‘Nazi’, stressed Eugen Mocanu. The young people said they are intimidated so as not to reveal the truth. They decided to mount a protest at the Prosecutor General’s Office this morning, but somebody phoned them and informed that their head office was on fire, while one of the association’s members was killed. The police did not confirm the information. “My wife was phoned in the morning and told not to go to the news conference. Steps are being taken to intimidate us, but we decided to go on. At least 100 persons will take part in the protests set to take place in two weeks. Some of the people will protest nonstop at the Prosecutor’s Office,” stated Eugen Mocanu. Eugen Mocanu is one of the young people who on August 11 asserted that the April 7, 2009 events were staged by the PLDM, PL and former AMN. He said then that the National Nacist Association, the Association “New Right” and the People’s Anticommunist Coalition were directly involved in the devastation of the buildings at the suggestion of the deputy chairman of the Liberal Party, Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca, the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party Vlad Filat and the leader of the former Moldova Noastra Alliance (AMN) Serafim Urecheanu, who urged the people to launch the so-called Twitter Revolution. Eugen Mocanu, who presented himself as the head of the National Nacist Association, related that the preparations for the protests started two weeks before April 7 at a health resort in Vadul lui Voda that belongs to the Liberal Party. About 1 500 young people were trained there, prepared physically and psychological for the battle. They smoked marijuana and drank alcohol, while three men from Romania taught them to make cocktails “Molotov”. Those who accepted to become involved were paid by €20 a day.
