The persons who took part in the Nistru war and were then imprisoned for committing minor offenses may be pardoned. The governmental commission for the organization of the activities commemorating 20 years of the 1992 war will submit such a proposal to the Acting President, Info-Prim Neo reports. The commission’s chairman, Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Moldovanu asked the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Defense to provide the lists of persons in the legal system within five days. By March 2, the 345 persons who returned invalids from the war and the families of those killed in battle will receive by a lump sum of 1 000 lei in financial assistance. Commemoration meals will be given in a number of settlements. In Chisinau, these meals will involve over 700 persons. Nicolae Andries, deputy head of Causeni district, said most of the war participants are from Causeni. He asked increasing the allowances for the commemoration meals in this district. The 32,000 lei allocated will enable to invite only 350 participants to the meals, which is only 10% of those who took part in the war. ”We ask examining the possibility of allocating additional funds for the commemoration meal,” said the deputy head of Dubasari district Marian Jembei. Besides medals, the veterans in Dubasari ask for a lump sum payment of 100 lei.
