A part of the voters haven’t yet decided if they will go to the polls on June 14 and who to vote for if they go. A poll carried out by the Association of Sociologists and Demographers of Moldova on May 20-30 shows that 45% of the respondents from the municipality of Chisinau would definitely go to cast their ballots, IPN reports.

The Association’s head Victor Mocanu told a news conference that 14% of those polled do not know who to vote for. Another 5% didn’t give a concrete answer. Consequently, each fifth surveyed person would be unable to make a conscious choice.

Of the respondents who will go to the polls, 32.4% said they will vote for the Party of Socialists’ candidate Zinaida Grecheanyi, while 29.8% – for the Liberal Party’s candidate Dorin Chirtoaca. Thus, a second round of voting will be needed to decide the winner. The other candidates would gain less than 7% of the vote.

Asked to explain their electoral options, 21.8% of those questioned said they will choose the candidate who works hard and is responsible, while 19.2% said they will vote for a competent person who knows the problems of the city and how to solve them, and who speaks less and does a lot. 17.9% of the respondents will vote for an intelligent person with higher education, while 16.7% – for an honest candidate who will fight corruption and who is courageous.

The sociological survey covered a sample of 1,593 respondents older than 18 from 79 settlements of Moldova, except for the Transnistrian region. The margin of sampling error is 2.8%.
