Parliament's speaker lays flowers to poet Grigore Vieru's tomb

Speaker Marian Lupu has laid flowers to the tomb of recently departed poet Grigore Vieru in the morning of February 14, in the Central Cemetery on Armeneasca str. in Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo has learnt from the press service of the Legislature. The speaker thus paid homage to the poet, who would have turned 74 years this Saturday. “Writer of the People, Knight of the Order of the Republic, Honoris Causa Doctor of the Moldovan Academy of Science, Grigore Vieru made us known to the world, his works being translated into 20 languages,” said Marian Lupu. “A laureate of numerous national and international awards, Grigore Vieru will live through his work, continuing to educate new and new generations to love their Mother, Motherland, and everything beautiful in this world,” said the president of the Parliament. Grigore Vieru became a classical writer during his life-time and died on January 18, 2009, following a car accident. Marian Lupu chaired the state commission, which organized the funerals of the poet.
