The plenary sittings of the Parliament will be suspended during the election campaign. The MPs will come together for meetings only if necessary, Info-Prim Neo reports.
On February 3, the MPs approved this program proposed by the Parliament’s Standing Bureau. “We agreed that during the election campaign the Parliament will hold meetings only if need be because practically all the parliamentary groups will be involved in the campaign. In case of emergencies, the MPs will be informed about the meeting at least one week beforehand,” Head of Parliament Marian Lupu said.
Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, the Parliament’s spokesman Sergiu Vladica said that officially the legislature will continue the spring session in this period. The MPs have the rights to adopt organic and ordinary laws. After the term of the present legislature expires on March 7, the parliamentarians will only examine ordinary laws and the Parliament’s decisions.
Vladica said that at the closing festive meeting, the MPs will drink champagne and sing the state anthem. Most probably, the leaders of parliamentary groups will not deliver the traditional speeches at this meeting because it will be held during the election campaign.
