After the Constitutional Court held that the Parliament decision to declare a state of emergency is unconstitutional and following President Maia Sandu‘s decree to dissolve Parliament and to call snap parliamentary elections for July 11, the parliamentary parties had different reactions, IPN reports.

The For Moldova Platform that includes the MPs of the Shor Party said that pressure was openly exerted on the Constitutional Court so that this takes decisions depending on the political interests. “The party that is indirectly led by President Maia Sandu, which was one of the authors of the examined challenge, by demonstrations mounted at the door of the Constitutional Court, actually forced the passing of such a judgment. But this is inadmissible and damages from the start the image and credibility of this institution that allowed to be engaged in these games of power, amplifying this way the political crisis and, by ricochet, the social and economic crises,” says the Platform’s statement.

The Democratic Party noted that in the election campaign, it will propose solutions to the real problems faced by the country and will make effort to unite the voters who want the country to be managed by responsible, efficient and professional politicians. “Given that the Constitutional Court’s decisions are mandatory, the PDM considers any assessment and dispute on the issue, which can further inflame the political situation, are out of place. We yet regret that the PDM’s initiatives aimed at ensuring the efficient administration of public affairs were blocked by the narrow interests of some of the parties,” says the PDM’s position.

The leader of Pro Moldova Andrian Candu noted that the created situation is the result of the irresponsibility and incompetence of the governments of the past two years. “We hope that when the date of elections was considered, all the aspects related to the proper holding of elections were taken into account and that this time the elections will be organized correctly, without cheating and avoidance of laws, by obeying the national and international electoral standards,” the politician posted on Facebook.

President Maia Sandu signed the decree to dissolve Parliament and to call snap parliamentary elections for July 11 in the evening of April 28, following the Constitutional Court’s ruling that the Parliament decision to declare a state of emergency is unconstitutional.
