On the initiative of the Socialist MPs, Parliament adopted a statement on the disagreement with the dissolution of Parliament. This was carried by the votes of the Socialist MPs and the members of the For Moldova platform that includes the MPs of the Shor Party. The statement says the disagreement with the dissolution of Parliament derives from the fact that not all the constitutional ways for overcoming the political crisis by investing the Government were used, IPN reports.

“Given the pressing need for investing a Government that can solve the pandemic crisis and can manage productively the strategic areas, especially on the socioeconomic dimension, we inform about the combination of all forces for avoiding the institutional stalemate caused by the lack of a dialog based on respect and diligence on the part of the President,” MP Vasile Bolea said, reading the statement.

PAS MP Sergiu Litvinenco said this statement seems funny as these are the Constitution, the Constitutional Court and its case law. “You practically annul the Constitution, the powers of the Constitutional Court as you say that there are no circumstances,” he stated.

Unaffiliated MP Octavian Țîcu said the subject of this statement is clear, including for the citizens. “As an MP and as the president of the National Unity Party, I will support and seek the dissolution of this Parliament that does not have a future and should disappear,” noted the MP.

Democratic MP Nicolae Ciubuc said the PDM considers Moldova needs a functional government, but not in any conditions. What they try to do by this statement is to involve other MPs into this chess game so as to support the formalized majority with which the Democrats do not agree.

PPPDA MP Alexandru Slusari stated that the circus started yesterday by the PSRM, the Shor Party and the PAS continues today. During the next five months, the country will be managed by an interim government that cannot amend the budget. The responsibilities could be shifted onto each other. The PPPDA maintains that a Government with full powers should be invested, even if snap elections are later held, and it is ready to assume governance.

When being put to the vote, the statement was adopted by 54 votes in favor.

A quorum at the March 25 sitting of Parliament was not present and the government program and the Cabinet proposed by candidate for Prime Minister Igor Grosu could not be considered. This was the second attempt to vote in a Government with full powers, after the first attempt of February 11 also failed. President Maia Sandu scheduled consultations with the parliamentary groups for March 26. The PSRM and For Moldova announced they will not go to the discussions with the President.
