U.S. Ambassador Dereck J. Hogan said the upcoming parliamentary elections mark a critical moment for the United States’ bilateral relationship with Moldova. This is the message transmitted by the diplomat in his meetings with leaders of Moldova political parties.

On its Facebook page, the U.S. Embassy said Ambassador Hogan in recent days met with Zinaida Grecheanyi of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova, Andrei Năstase of the Dignity and Truth Platform Party, Vlad Plahotniuc of the Democratic Party of Moldova, and Maia Sandu of the Action and Solidarity Party.

The United States is not trying to influence who wins or loses on Election Day, the Ambassador emphasized, because that it a decision that belongs solely to the voters of Moldova. The United States is greatly interested in seeing that the campaigns and elections in Moldova meet international standards and are part of a political process that is fair and transparent.
