Parliamentary Council for European Integration to convene

The priorities of the autumn session of Parliament were discussed by Speaker Andrian Candu and the heads of parliamentary commissions in a working meeting. The Head of Parliament said the Parliamentary Council for European Integration will have a meeting next week and will discuss primarily the European Court of Auditors’ report and the use of the external funds for Moldova’s development, IPN reports.

According to the Parliament’s press service, the Speaker said MPs’ efforts in the autumn session will center on parliamentary control and law implementation assessment in the context of the initiated priority reforms. He requested the commission heads to work out a schedule of parliamentary hearings to assess the implementation of the laws adopted by the legislature and to inform civil society and representatives of the authorities about the subjects that will be discussed in these.

Andrian Candu said the agendas of the Government and Parliament are to be synchronized for the autumn session and the two bodies will have a joint meeting in the immediate future. The Government transmitted to Parliament 32 legal acts that are to be examined and adopted as matters of urgency during the autumn session. These include the laws on the consolidation of the financial-banking sector, the reorganization of the Security and Intelligence Service, the modernization of the Customs Service and the State Tax Service and different amendments to the legislation that ensure the implementation of the Association Agreement.

The Parliament’s working agenda includes 372 draft legal acts. The first plenary sitting of the autumn session will take place in the immediate future, at the suggestion of the Standing Bureau. The autumn session began on September 1.
