The legislature constituted a commission of inquiry into the tragic hunting incident of December 23. The commission has nine members representing all the parliamentary factions: four Communist MPs, three Liberal-Democratic MPs, a Democratic lawmaker, and a Liberal one, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The Lib-Dems, who are the authors of the initiative, proposed that the commission should be headed by a representative of the opposition. Communist MP Anatolie Zagorodnyi was named chairman of the commission.
The PLDM delegated Iurie Tap, Alexandru Cimbriciuc, and Iurie Apostolachi to work on the commission. Iurie Tap was elected deputy chairman. “Anticipating speculations and media campaigns,
I underline that the goal of the PLDM is not to change the ruling alliance and to settle accounts with certain persons. We consider that we are in a moment of truth, when we must realize that we can no longer tolerate situations that can lead to unpredictable consequences, including the discrediting of the objectives set by the Alliance for European Integration,” said the leader of the Liberal-Democratic faction Valeriu Strelet.
Democratic MP Igor Corman said the PDM insists that this commission should identify all the persons involved in the tragic accident. “The PDM will be active within the commission of inquiry. If we had to go through such a crisis, we must draw conclusions so as to prevent such internal dysfunctions and external declarations in the future,” he stated. The PDM is represented by Alexandru Stoianoglo in the commission.
The chairman of the PL Mihai Ghimpu asked the commission members to establish not only who took part in the hunting, but who else was involved. Valeriu Munteanu will work on the commission on behalf of the PL.
Besides Anatolie Zagorodnyi, the PCRM will also be represented by Anatolie Gorila, who was elected secretary, Alexandr Petkov, and Grigore Petrenlo. The Communists’ leader Vladimir Voronin said there are persons who do not want the truth to come out. “They are smaller in number! Today is a special day for the other politicians as they have a historical chance to reach that level of moral responsibility that most of our people still have,” he stated.
The commission is to present a report in Parliament in three weeks.
