Parliamentary commission for foreign policy and European integration approves six candidates for ambassador

The parliamentary commission for foreign policy and European integration approved the six candidates for the post of Ambassadors of Moldova to Romania, France, Czech Republic, China, Germany and Austria. The Foreign Ministry says the best specialists were delegated to work in these counties, Info-Prim Neo reports. After obtaining the agreement of the six countries, the candidates were questioned by the parliamentary commission at a meeting on May 27. Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Popov said all the candidates worked in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Moldova. [Iurie Renita], the future Ambassador to Romania, is a journalist by profession, but completed also diplomatic education. He worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was adviser on military matters at the Embassy of Moldova in the U.S., secretary at the OSCE Mission in Croatia, while from 2007 has headed a U.S. company operating in Moldova. MP [Oleg Serebrian], the vice president of the Democratic Party, is the candidate who knows the largest number of foreign languages. In 1998-1999, he had headed the Political Analysis Division of the Foreign Ministry and had been also spokesman for the Ministry. Oleg Serebrian will represent Moldova in France. He said he regrets that he has to abandon the seat of MP. [Ştefan Gorda], the candidate for Ambassador to the Czech Republic, served as consultant at Moldova's embassies in France and Uzbekistan and as Moldova's coordinator for GUAM. He was also the general director of a company in Sudan. Stefan Gorda does not speak Czech, but speaks fluent French, English, Russian and Ukrainian. The charge d'affaires of Moldova to Germany [Aurel Ciocoi] can be named Ambassador in Berlin as well. After studying journalism and diplomatic relations, Aurel Ciocoi worked at the Foreign Ministry for many years and then at the Embassy of Moldova in Germany. Andrei Popov said that in China, Moldova will be presented by the Foreign Ministry's specialist with the richest experience in working with this country. [Anatol Urecheanu], who now serves as Moldova's charge d'affaires in Beijing, had headed the Foreign Ministry's division for cooperation with Asia, Africa and Latin America. He worked as adviser at the Embassy of France, knows Chinese. [Valeriu Chiveri] will serve as Ambassador to Austria, the OSCE, the UN Agencies in Vienna and Slovakia simultaneously. He worked for the OSCE Missions in Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Georgia. He knows English, German and Turkmen. Six of the 14 candidates for Ambassador accredited by the Moldovan authorities got the agreement of the countries of appointment. The May 27 meeting was attended only by Iurie Renita, Oleg Serebrian and Stefan Gorda. The other candidates are abroad. According to the standard procedure, the candidates for ambassador are questioned by the parliamentary commission for foreign policy and European integration, approved by the Government and appointed by the head of state. Andrei Popov said Moldova is expecting the agreement of the other eight countries.
