The parliamentary commission on agriculture and food industry was unable to question Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vasile Bumacov as scheduled for September 18. The official said that he didn’t know he was to come before the MPs and is now on a trip, IPN reports.
The fact that the minister didn’t present himself before the commission aroused argument among the MPs. The Liberal-Democratic lawmakers said the questioning of Vasile Bumacov wasn’t put to the vote and there was taken no official decision. Their Communist colleagues stated that a verbal agreement existed between all the members of the commission and that an official letter was formulated, informing the minister about the hearings.
The commission’s deputy head, Lib-Dem Ion Balan phoned Vasile Bumacov during the meeting and then told his colleagues that the minister didn’t know about the hearings and is on a trip now, but he promised to come to the next week’s meeting.
The minister was to be questioned about the situation in agriculture, including about the embargo imposed by Russia on the imports of Moldovan wine.
