The boarding school in Vascauti village, Floresti district, received 16,000 lei as a gift from the Head of Parliament Marian Lupu to buy an accordion. Lupu, who patronizes the given institution, attended a performance dedicated to the winter holidays staged by the children.
According to the Parliament’s press service, quoted by Info-Prim Neo, the Speaker congratulated the children and teaching staff on the winter holidays and wished them health and prosperity. Marian Lupu stressed that the “Civic Merit” title was awarded to the boarding school’s director Tudor Tertea in recognition of the contribution of the institution’s staff in educating Moldova’s young generation.
The Speaker said that this year the institution, which marked the 50th anniversary of the foundation, managed to open a gymnasium with the help of the authorities and foreign partners. Marian Lupu said that the Parliament will continue supporting the school in order to improve its activity and the children’s life.
According to the school’s principal, only 100 of the 235 students will go home for the period of holidays. The other children will celebrate the winter holidays in the institution. Tudor Tertea said that by tradition, the children this year will go to Chisinau to see the Christmas tree and to a performance at the Puppet Theater “Licurici”.
A number of 235 students live and study at the boarding school in Vascauti. Some 100 of them are orphan and 135 from socially-vulnerable families.
