The legislative body on May 20 adopted a bill with amendments to the law on the procedure for electing the head of state in first reading. Under the bill, the Parliament will be dissolved one year after the last dissolution within a reasonable time frame, Info-Prim Neo reports. The law was modified following a recommendations made by the Constitutional Court on March 16. The Court said the time limit for dissolving the legislature must be set as the caretaker President or the person who holds the post of head of state on an interim basis runs the risk of being accused of violating the constitutional norms. The head of the parliamentary commission for appointments and immunities Ion Plesca said some of the members of the commission suggested examining the method of fixing the time limit in second reading. Earlier, Deputy Minister of Justice Oleg Efrim said a reasonable time is a period of six months.
