The monthly state allowance intended for rehabilitated victims of political repression will be raised as of September 1, 2018. A bill to this effect was passed by Parliament in the first reading, IPN reports.
Under the bill, the rehabilitated victims of the political repression of 1917-1990 will receive a monthly state allowance of 500 lei, up 400 lei from the current allowance of 100 lei. The persons who form part of two or more categories of beneficiaries will be paid one allowance, of their choice.
According to the bill authors, the changes were made with the aim of ensuring the additional protection of the 8 452 rehabilitated victims of political repression the allowance for whom hasn’t been raised since 2012.
A sum of 12,900 lei will be needed to implement the changes in 2018. The money will be allocated from the amounts transferred from the state budget to the state social insurance budget for this year.
