The MPs of the Party of Socialists and the Platform “For Moldova”, which includes the MPs of the Shor Party, on March 12 voted in favor of naming judges Tamara Chișca-Doneva and Nadejda Toma as vice presidents of the Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ), IPN reports.
Tamara Chișca-Doneva will be appointed as vice president of the SCJ and head of the Civil, Commercial and Administrative Board, while Nadejda Toma as vice president of the SCJ and head of the Penal Board.
The candidates were selected at a contest to fill the vacancies at the SCJ and will serve a four-year term.
At the start of the March 12 sitting of Parliament, the PAS and PPPDA MPs asked to exclude the appointment of judge Tamara Chișca-Doneva from the agenda because she was involved in the decision concerning the shopping center “Gemeni” that was challenged at the ECHR and over which the High Court awarded about 70 million lei damages to the plaintiffs. The proposal was short of votes. The decision on the appointment of Tamara Chișca-Doneva was ultimately adopted by the parliamentary majority.
