Parliament will assemble for a solemn meeting to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Moldovan Constitution. The event will bring together current and former MPs, former presidents and speakers, former Constitutional Court chairpersons, and drafters of the Constitution directly involved in creating Moldova’s fundamental law.

PM Dorin Recean, senators from Romania, members of the Constitutional Court, the Superior Council of Magistracy and the Superior Council of Prosecutors, heads of governmental agencies, members of the diplomatic corps accredited in our country, and of the academic community are also expected to attend the solemn meeting, moderated by Speaker Igor Grosu.

The event will take place on Monday, starting at 11:00 AM.

Also on Monday, starting at 2:00 PM, Legal Committee chair Veronica Roșca, along with her counterpart from the Romanian Senate, Cristian-Augustin Niculescu-Țâgârlaș, will co-moderate a conference titled “The 30th anniversary of the Moldovan Constitution and European integration”. The conference will bring together around 100 participants, including Moldovan lawmakers, Romanian senators and representatives of the academia, who will present papers on constitutional law and aspects of European integration.

Parliament will also host a thematic exhibition dedicated to the anniversary, with over 150 items selected from the Moldovan National Library and Parliament’s Library and Archive.

The Constitution Day is marked annually in Moldova on July 29. The fundamental law was passed by Parliament on 29 July 1994, taking effect on 27 August of the same year.
