The Parliament’s Standing Bureau decided to convoke the legislature for a sitting where to invest the Government on Thursday, February 12. Head of Parliament Andrian Candu said the decision was taken after the candidate for premiership Iurie Leanca asked postponing the sitting so that they have time to finalize the government program, IPN reports.

Though the sitting where the Cabinet is to be voted in was put off, the candidate nominated for the post of Prime Minister meets the term of 15 days during which he has to prepare the government program and to form the Cabinet. The presidential decree by which Iurie Leanca was designated as a candidate for premiership was signed on January 28.

The leader of the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon said the postponement of the sitting is another proof that the parties cannot reach an agreement as to how to govern. He reiterated that holding early elections is the only solution for overcoming the created situation.

MP Valeriu Munteanu, who represents the Liberal faction in the Standing Bureau, told the reporters that the Liberals will support only a Government that will include Liberals and the PL insists on the formation of a coalition consisting of the three pro-European parties.

Iurie Leanca is supported by the Liberal Democratic Party and the Democratic Party, which have 42 seats of MP together. The Communists announced they will not vote for a Cabinet headed by Iurie Leanca as the head of Government must be an apolitical person.
