The first sitting of the new Parliament this year is expected to be convened next week, the representatives of the

PLDM, PDM and PCRM announced after a new round of discussions on Januarys 16, IPN reports.

Vadim Pistrinciuc, negotiators on behalf of the PLDM, said that today they discussed the structure of the parliamentary commissions and their number and the structure of the presidium. ”We exchanged opinions. Our goal is to make sure that Parliament starts work next week,” he stated, adding that the date of the sitting wasn’t yet set.

The PDM’s negotiator Sergiu Sarbu said that today’s discussions centered on the unblocking of the Parliament’s activity. “We hope that the legislative body will start work next week. We evidently discussed the structure of Parliament, based on the legal provisions, and other subjects that are to be further discussed,” he stated. As to the posts of Deputy Head of Parliament, he said the PCRM hasn’t yet proposed a candidate, but the opposition has the right to field one Deputy Speaker.

Communist MP Artur Reshetnikov noted that they agreed to resume legislative work next week. Asked if the PCRM is ready to support a minority government, Artur Reshetnikov said it is premature to speak about this, but a responsible politician has the duty to make effort to improve the situation and the fact that there is yet no government has negative consequences.
