The Parliament didn’t support the candidature of Galina Bostan, selected by the specialized commission, for the position of civil society’s member of the National Integrity Commission (CNI). She needed 51 votes, but obtained only 45. The PL and PCRM groups didn’t support her candidature, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Communist MP Grigore Petrenco asked her who would she represent in the commission and what party proposed her candidature. Galina Bostan replied that the decision to become a member of CNI was her own and that she was supported by 7 NGOs and not by any political party.
Before the initiation of the voting, the Liberal MPs expressed their dissatisfaction with the activity of the Center for Analysis and Prevention of Corruption, an NGO led by Galina Bostan. They complained that last year CAPC published a list with the “laziest” MPs, meaning those with the most absences from work, featuring Liberals Ana Gutu and Corina Fusu.
Approached by journalists after the meeting, PL leader Mihai Ghimpu confirmed that the reason behind the Liberal group’s refusal to vote for Galina Bosta is the activity of the Center for Analysis and Prevention of Corruption and the erroneous presented reports. According to Ghimpu, if Galina Bostan had admitted her fault, the group would have voted differently.
Galina Bostan was selected for this position by the Parliament’s commission for legal issues, appointments and immunities after a contest in which the other participants were Dumitru Proca, Dumitru Graur, Igor Caldare and Anatolie Petrici.
After the voting, Galina Bostan told the press she would not run again for this position.
