About ten bills drafted by MPs of the Party of Socialists were examined in the October 12 meeting of Parliament, but none of these gained the necessary number of votes to be adopted, IPN reports.
The Socialist MPs said the government did nothing but fully reject the bills that were mainly social in character and were very important for the people, especially the socially deprived groups. Moreover, the government intentionally blocked these initiatives so as to later include them in their draft laws and present them as their own. On the other hand, their colleagues from other groups said Socialists’ initiatives were mainly populist.
The bills allowed for the indexation of pensions two times a year, on April 1 and October 1, provision of monthly allowances to rehabilitated victims of the political repressions of 1917-1990, freeing of pensioners and families with many children and with low incomes from penalties for the non-payment of bills on time, and for the rise in the age limit for persons who can buy alcohol from 18 to 21 years.
