The legislative body postponed the plenary sitting until 1pm. Head of Parliament Marian Lupu provided no explanation. The announcement was made by the Secretariat’s head Maxim Ganaciuc, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The February 24 sitting started one hour later than projected, at 11am, but was then put off. The press reported that the leaders of the Alliance for European Integration held a secret meeting that lasted not very long and that the chairman of the Liberal Party Mihai Ghimpu went out very angry.
The Liberal, Liberal-Democratic and Democratic lawmakers and the group of Socialists are in the assembly hall. The Communists did not come to the sitting.
According to unofficial reports, the three leaders of the ruling alliance are now holding discussions in the Palace of the Republic. The AEI is to agree a candidate for the post of President. Earlier, they fielded two presidential candidates – former Minister of Health Ion Ababii and deputy governor of the National Bank Veronica Bacalu.
