The Declaration of Moldovan Independence, adopted on August 27 thirty years ago, marked a new chapter in the history of the state and determined the legal and constitutional development of the state and of society. This historic act would determine the quality of development processes of social, economic and legal relations. This statement was made by Pintilie Pîrvan, "Parliament 90" public association chair, during a festive ceremony held in the Parliament plenary on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Moldova's independence.
"The Declaration of Independence guarantees social, economic, cultural rights and political freedoms to all citizens and to all national, ethnic, linguistic and religious groups on the territory of the country, in accordance with internationally recognised principles and norms", said Pintilie Pîrvan.
MPs delivered speeches from the floor of Parliament. "After 30 years of independence, I want our young people to stay at home and to invest in our country . I want our young people to value hard work, modesty, care for the community and the environment and have respect for the law and for teamwork. In order to achive this, we need every citizen and every family to be involved. I call on all people who care about our country to get involved. Only with your help, with the participation of each and every one of you, we can turn our aspirations into real progress", said Parliament Speaker and PAS MP, Igor Grosu.
Parliament's Deputy Speaker, Bloc of Communists and Socialists MP, Vlad Batrîncea, stressed the need for open dialogue in society. According to him, in order to build a prosperous state, the people must be one and the best law practices must be introduced. "True independence is economic independence, agriculture, industry and obviously the standard of living of citizens, which even today leaves to be desired. The real tragedy of Moldova, regardless of politics and previous governments, is the massive exodus of the working population", the MP said.
Petru Jardan, Șor Party MP, said that after 30 years it was finally time to overcome our differences. "The time has come to unite our efforts in building, so that we can all enjoy a prosperous, democratic and free country. We have a chance to lay the foundations for sustainable development for the good of the country. Let's make use of each other's experience and knowledge", the MP said.
At the end of the festivities, the Moldovan national anthem was performed by the Doina Academic Choir - an emeritus collective, whose artistic director and prime maestro is Ilona Stepan, People's Artist.
