The Parliament of France will hasten the procedure for ratifying the Association Agreement (AA) between Moldova and the EU, head of the Group of Friendship with the Republic of Moldova of the French Senate Josette Durrieu announced in a meeting with Head of Parliament Igor Corman. According to her, the ratification of the Association Agreement by the Parliament of France will be a message of support for Moldova to continue its European course, IPN reports, quoting the legislature’s press service.
Senator Josette Durrieu welcomed the democratic developments in Moldova, including the signing and ratification of the Association Agreement with the EU. “I hope the Council of Europe will appreciate the progress made by Moldova and will recommend ending the monitoring procedure,” she stated.
The French officials also said that the Senate of France is ready to initiate cooperation relations with Moldova’s Parliament with a view to sharing the good practices and experiences of France in decentralization and ensuring of local self-government.
Members of the Group of Friendship with the Republic of Moldova of the French Senate are paying a visit to Chisinau between September 16 and 20. The delegation consists of Senators Josette Durrieu, Patrice Gélard and Jean-Claude Frécon.
