Mihai Poalelungi will head the Supreme Court of Justice for four more years. A decision to this effect was taken by Parliament in its April 27 sitting, IPN reports.
The MPs also appointed Nicolae Craiu, Anatolie Turcan and Mariana Pitic as Supreme Court of Justice judges. These will serve until they reach retirement. Nicolae Gordila was named deputy chairman of the Penal Board of the Supreme Court of Justice.
The head of the Parliament’s commission on appointments and immunities Raisa Apolschii said the commission examined the candidates proposed by the Supreme Council of Magistracy for the vacancies and established that these meet the requirements and have the experience needed to serve as judges at the Supreme Court of Justice.
Liberal-Democratic MP Maria Ciobanu told Mihai Poalelungi that society does not want him as president of the Supreme Court of Justice because he discredited himself in time and thus shouldn’t have applied for this post against. Other MPs of the Liberal Democratic Party also leveled criticism at Mihai Poalelungi.
