The legislative body appointed a new member of the Central Election Commission (CEC). Vadim Filipov was named instead of Lilian Enciu, who tendered his resignation in July, IPN reports.

The head of the Parliament’s legal commission for appointments and immunities Olesea Stamate said that Vadim Filipov will serve on the CEC until the Commission’s term in office expires.

Filipov is a bachelor of law and has a master’s diploma in the same field. He served as a CEC member also in 2017-2021.

Eight members of the CEC are appointed by Parliament by a majority of votes, with the candidates being proposed by observing the proportional representation of the majority and the opposition. The ninth member is designated by the President. The CEC members cannot be discharged and must not be members of parties or other sociopolitical organizations.
