Parliament has launched a public appointment competition to select two members for the Superior Council of the Magistracy. Those interested may apply until November 10 inclusive.
The candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in law or another relevant field, experience in the field of law and notable experience in the field of jurisprudence or another relevant field of at least ten years. Also, they must have a high professional reputation and personal integrity, and not be active members of the legislative, executive or judicial branches.
The candidates must have a clean criminal record, be free from any restriction on holding public offices prescribed by the National Integrity Authority, and have a clean professional integrity record.
The Superior Council of the Magistracy is made up of 12 members. Six of them are judges and the rest are appointed by Parliament by a three-fifth majority.
