Moldova’s Parliament is ready to create an additional communication channel with the Transnistrian region, Speaker Andrian Candu said in a meeting with the delegation of mediators and observers to the Transnistrian conflict settlement talks in the 5+2 format led by the Special Representative of the German OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the Transnistrian Settlement Process Cord Meier-Klodt, IPN reports.
According to the Parliament’s press service, Andrian Candu announced that the legislative body is to design an internal mechanism for communicating with the negotiators responsible for the Transnistrian conflict settlement process, including for coordinating the actions with the executive.
The official also said that the launch of the dialogue between the legislatures of Chisinau and Tiraspol, with the support of the OSCE, will ensure political support for implementing the solutions identified in the talks.
“There is political will in Chisinau for resuming the talks in the 5+2 format and the support at parliamentary level will ensure the political support needed for achieving concrete results. We want to rebuilt confidence and advance the talks on important subjects for the people such as the recognition of diplomas, humanitarian matters, interconnection of the communication lines and extension of the emergency mobile services,” stated Andrian Candu.
The delegation of mediators and observers to the 5+2 format talks headed by Ambassador Cord Meier-Klodt is in Moldova on a three-day visit.
