Parliament confirmed 8 of those 9 members of CCA

The Parliament confirmed, in its sitting on Friday, October 20, 8 of those 9 members of the Coordinating Council on Audiovisual (CCA). They have been voted by MPs representing the Communist and the Christian Democrat factions, but the procedure of selecting several candidates was criticized by the representatives of opposition. Those 8 members of CCA, confirmed by the Parliament are Corneliu Mihalache, Ludmila Vasilache, Gheorghe Gorincioi, who will hold the respective function for 6 years; Ruslan Plesca and Valeriu Soltan – for 4 years; Constantin Rotaru, Valeriu Frumusachi şi Vlad Turcanu, who were confirmed for a period of 2 years. The candidature of Carmelia Albu wasn’t confirmed at the session because of her absence. 7 candidatures were voted by 65 each, and one – by 64 MPs. The AMN faction and some independent MPs left the session room as protest. Several MPs representing the opposition accused the specialized Committee of selecting candidates in a non-transparent way and of taking as basis for selection party principles, not the interests the audiovisual from the R. of Moldova. The MP from “Moldova Noastra” Alliance, Anatol Onceanu declared that the so-called competition is actually a “farce”, and the creation of CCA is made on a political basis. Vitalia Pavlicenco qualified the elections of the CCA members as a “clownery”, and Dumitru Braghis claimed the violation of legislation in the process of the selection. MPs also referred to the fact that a part of the candidatures proposed for confirmation to the Parliament are inferior, from the professional point of view, to other candidates participating in the competition. Representatives of the government party declined the accusations, mentioning that everything was made in conformity with the provisions of the Audiovisual Code. On the other hand Victor Stepaniuc, the head of the mass-media committee, admitted that the selection of candidates was made “through the subjective vote of the MPs from the committee”. He also mentioned that several provisions of the law are not univocal. After being confirmed in function those 8 members took oaths of office in front of the Parliament. The decision of the Parliament concerning the designation of those 8 members of CCA is in force since its approval.
