Parliament Building hosts anniversary exhibition dedicated to Grigore Vieru

The debut book of poet Grigore Vieru, "The Alarm", as well as the famous alphabet "The Bee" are presented in the Parliament Building at an anniversary exhibition, dedicated to the creation and personality of the great poet Grigore Vieru. The Parliament’s Museum houses a collection of about 100 documents, which gives an insight into the poet's lyrical and spiritual universe, IPN reports.

Among the works on display are also the collection of poems for the primary school "Thank you for peace", published in 1963, collections of aphorisms, several works translated into various languages, a CD with songs on the lyrics of Grigore Vieru, as well as a selection of photographs of the poet.



The collection of documents is presented in the section "The Word, Foundation of the Nation", which reflects the poet's work. The second section, titled "The Poet of Bessarabia and the Reunification of the Nation", contains reflections on national unity. The section "A life in the Service of the Romanian Language" includes echoes in various publications and the posthumous recognition to the great poet.

"Grigore Vieru's works, full of longing and symbolism, have instilled in entire generations of readers the love for homeland, language and traditions. An author of poems, prose, songs, aphorisms, etc., Grigore Vieru is an emblematic figure of Romanian literature, considered a poet of mother, homeland and love," reads the Parliament's press release.



The exhibition entitled "Grigore Vieru, the nation's wordsmith" was mounted in cooperation with the National Library of the Republic of Moldova, on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the poet's birth and in the context of the National Reading Day that is celebrated annually on February 14.
