Parliament closed the autumn-winter session on December 25. The MPs went on vacation, but will come together for a special sitting on January 4 to consider the investiture of the Sturza Government, IPN reports.

In the last sitting of the autumn-winter session, Head of Parliament Andrian Candu said that 2015 was a rather difficult year from political viewpoint. “Despite the challenges, we showed that the MPs can work together when necessary. Parliament examined and adopted over 230 normative documents. We had more than 40 plenary sittings and had more or less good or bad commissions of inquiry. But, regretfully, we enter 2016 without a Government. On this occasion, I inform you that the Standing Bureau decided that a special sitting of Parliament will take place at 2pm on January 4 and I invite you all to take part,” stated the Speaker.

Andrian Candu added that in 2016 the Republic of Moldova will celebrate 25 years of independence and this year should be different from the passing year and called on the MPs to work hard to ensure the country follows a path to prosperity.

The Speaker reminded that Moldova is a parliamentary republic and each MP bears responsibility, regardless of the political color. Thus, a message of union, harmony and wisdom in 2016 should be important for all the MPs so that these strengthen their efforts for the people’s benefit.

This time the heads of the parliamentary groups didn’t give speeches at the end of session.
