Parliament appoints Chairman of Supreme Court

On Thursday, March 29, Parliament appointed Ion Muruianu as the Chairman of the Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ) for a 4-year term. Muruianu occupied the vacancy left by the resignation of Valeria Sterbet, who is currently serving as judge of the Constitutional Court. Ion Muruianu was born on July 10, 1956, in Oziornoie village, Ukraine. He graduated from the Law Faculty in Chisinau, later he worked as investigator, lawyer, judge, head of the Buiucani District Court. Since November 2006, he has held the office of vice-president of SCJ, head of the Economic Board of SCJ.
