Moldova’s Parliament condemns the terror attacks that struck Brussels on the morning of March 22 and offers its condolences to the families and relatives of those who were killed in explosions. Prime Minister Pavel Filip also sent a letter of condolence to his counterpart Charles Michael and the Belgian people, IPN reports, quoting the press services of the legislative and executive bodies.

“We profoundly regret the acts of terrorism that hit the capital of Belgium this morning. These represent a threat to the European security. The EU Member States and not only should cooperate informationally and strategically to avoid such tragedies. There is nothing more important than life. We are near the colleagues from the European Union and encourage them not to yield to provocations,” said Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu.

The Speaker noted that he keeps in touch with the members of the parliamentary delegations that are in Brussels, which are now out of danger, so as to ensure that they return home safely. MPs Marian Lupu, Oxana Domenti, Dumitru Diacov and Artur Reshetnicov are taking part in the session of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly in Brussels. Also, MP Valentina Buliga is participating in the joint meeting of the representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of the South East European Cooperation Process and the European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs.

The Government of Moldova also gave its condolences to the victims of the Brussels blasts and condemned the acts of violence. “These are inhuman and revolting acts that we firmly condemn,” said Pavel Filip.

The Premier also sent a message of encouragement and support to the Belgian authorities that are experiencing unprecedented dramatic events. He noted that the acts of violence against innocent people can no way be justified. “I vehemently condemn these acts of violence. We all should be united and powerful in the face of such new challenges,” he stated.

A series of explosions ripped through the departure hall of a Brussels airport and a metro station in the Belgian capital, killing at least 11 and injuring many more on the morning of March 22.
