The Moldovan Parliament has adopted the Law on Labeling of Products with Energy Impact. The labels will contain clear information about the energy efficiency of the products, consumption of energy or other resources, as well as other additional information.
This will enable citizens to choose more efficient products to reduce their energy consumption, the authorities say.
The State Inspectorate for the Supervision of Non-Food Products and Consumer Protection will be in charge of ensuring compliance by suppliers and vendors. If the market surveillance authority finds irregularities, it has the right to impose sanctions in accordance with the Contravention Code.
Within six months of publishing in the Official Gazette, the Government is to bring the national legislation in line with this Law.
