Service members of the National Army will take part in the Untired Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). Parliament adopted a draft decision that allows determining and adjusting the number of service members depending on the requirements of UNIFIL and Moldova’s possibilities, IPN reports.
As of August 1, 2022, four General Staff officers will integrate into the commandment of the UNIFIL Sector West. As from February 1, 2023, in rotation with other contributing countries, a platoon contingent will be delegated to work as part of Italy’s contingent to the Joint Task Force of the UNIFIL Sector West. The Italian side confirmed that the National Army’s contribution will be of 32 service members for a period of six months once a year (in rotation with another partner state).
UNIFIL was established to restore international peace and security in southern Lebanon. This involves about 10,500 service members form 45 countries.
