The legislative body passed in the second reading amendments to the Broadcasting Code. On the website of the Broadcasting Coordination Council (BCC), there will be published comprehensive information about the applicant for a broadcast license, while the private broadcasters will be obliged to present a progress report to the Council, according to a model proposed by it, by May 1, IPN reports.
Within two months of the adoption of the law, the BCC will approve a model of statement concerning the ensuring of transparency and the model of the progress report for private broadcasters.
The authors of the bill said the European norms provide that the people can ask for access to information about a particular TV channel or another institution. Liberal-Democratic MP Chiril Lucinschi, who is one of the authors, told the reporters that such was bill was needed for adjusting the national legislation to the European norms.
Liberal lawmaker Corina Fusu proposed an amendment to ban offshore companies to become owners of media outlets in Moldova, but Parliament rejected such an amendment.
The law takes effect in six months of its publication in the Official Gazette.
