The lawmakers adopted 149 bills and 33 decisions in the spring-summer session of Parliament. Head of Parliament Igor Corman said the session that ends on July 31 has been productive. There were passed more laws than in the autumn-winter session, when there were adopted 82 laws and 41 decisions, IPN reports.
In a news conference, Igor Corman said the major events in the period included the liberalization of the visa regime on April 28, the signing of the Association Agreement between Moldova and the EU on June 27 and its ratification by Moldova’s legislative body on July 2. The government now has another objective - to ensure the implementation of the accord.
Igor Corman said that in the current session of the legislature, there were passed two statements, one concerning the situation in Ukraine and another one concerning the consequences of the Free Trade Area between Moldova and the EU for the Transnistrian region. Parliament adopted a number of legal acts to improve the relations between both sides of the Nistru and didn’t aim to impose blockades on Tiraspol.
As regards the situation in Gagauzia, Igor Corman said that a bill to improve the legislation and to ensure the normal functioning of the Law on the Special Status of Gagauzia was passed in the first reading.
There were adopted over 20 laws of European relevance. A number of bills concerning party financing and the ensuring of media ownership transparency and the women’s representation in the political life were passed in the first reading. The next session will be short as the election campaign starts on October 1. However, Parliament is to adopt all the planned bills in the final reading.
The Parliament’s spring-summer session closes on July 31. The MPs will return to work on September 5.
