The way the officials who took part in the hunting in the Domneasca Forest, which ended in the death of a man, acted is totally defective and caused serious damage to the image of Moldova as a democratic state of law with European aspirations, consider members of the first Parliament of Moldova. In a press release, the Association “Parlamentul-90” says it is absolutely evident that attempts were made to hide what happened as the general public found out about the incident only two weeks later, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The Association says that the way different state institutions that must protect the people’s interests acted is revolting. “The happenings grossly defy the effort made by the Association’s members over two decades ago, when, taking certain risks, they declared the independence and sovereignty of Moldova and started to build a state of law in our country,” it is said in the press release.
“Parlamentul-90” seeks the immediate dismissal of all the officials who took part in the hunting. It calls on the institutions involved to make use of the legal powers they have and to ensure an independent and swift investigation into the incident, based on the public interests of the people.
On January 16, the Agency “Moldsilva” made public the list of participants in the December 23 hunting. It includes 30 names, among whom Prosecutor General Valeriu Zubko, president of the Court of Appeals Ion Plesca, “Moldsilva” director Ion Lupu, and the director of the state-run company “Registru” Sergiu Railean. For accidental shooting, the prosecutors are investigating Gheorghe Cretu, who resigned from the posts of vice president of the Court of Appeals and of judge after what happened.
