Workers of the Green Areas Association have treated the parks in Chisinau with chemicals against ticks. Contacted by IPN, Maria Poleakov, senior specialist in plant protection at the municipal enterprise “Green Areas Association”, said that three parks have been traded since May 3, namely “Valea Morilor”, “Rascani” and “La Izvor”.
“The used chemicals kill the larvae too and the ticks no longer appear in that area,” stated Maria Poleakov. Treatment procedures during the next few days will be performed in the parks “Valea Trandafirilor”, “Alunelul”, “Dimo”, “Calea Orheiului” and “Nicolae Costin” and in the square “Sergei Lazo”.
Specialists of the Chisinau Public Health Center urge to wear light-colored clothes with long sleeves when walking in green areas and to examine the uncovered skin for ticks when home and take a shower.
If a tick is detected, this should be immediately removed and the place should be treated with iodine tincture or 70% alcohol solution. The person should see a doctor who will decide the chemical-prophylactic treatment.
