The parents of Ilie Cazac today have entered the 10th day of their hunger strike outside the Russian Embassy in Chisinau. Even if their health is rapidly declining, they say they will not give up until they are given guarantees that they can, at least, see their son. Ilie's father, Alexandr Vinitski, told Info-Prim Neo that every morning and evening they are examined by Emergency doctors. His wife's condition is too poor for her to be able to speak to reporters. “She has headaches, her stomach is ulcerating and her spine is hurting. Doctors give her injections every day. But we won't give up, even if we would lose consciousness”. Alexandr Vinitski says they are grateful to the passers-by who bring them water and encourage them. Ilie Cazac, 24, was employed by the Bender tax inspectorate before being arrested in March on charges of treason and spying in favor of Moldova, under which he faces 20 years in prison. His parents haven't seen him since, and are unaware of his place of imprisonment and his health. Stela Surkichyan and Alexandr Vinitski believe Russia, as a powerful mediator in the conflict, may put pressure on the Transnistrian authorities to free Ilie.
