Parents of family type children’s homes and parent assistants will have status of social workers

The professional parent assistants and the parent educators of family type children’s homes will be included in the personnel categories of the social assistance system following modifications introduced by the Government to the Social Assistance Law, Info-Prim Neo reports. The modifications also say that the Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family and other central public authorities will be entrusted with the task of formulating the normative-methodological framework and policies on social assistance. The local public authorities of the second level will be responsible for the management of the financial resources and provision of social services, while the local public authorities of the first level will support this process. The local public authorities will also have the right to hire personnel for the local social assistance services. The personnel providing social services will be accredited in order to improve the quality of the given services. The social assistants will receive professional qualification degrees.
